Hi all,

I want to understand how I can register for the public system. Appreciate your responses

1. I live in Pokfulam so do I just show up at Tsan Yuk Hospital with my HKID and a reference letter to register?

2. Can I go to any MCHC or it has to be Tsan Yuk Hospital for initial registration? If I register at a MCHC, will I go to that particular MCHC for subsequent antenatal check-ups or will all antenatal check-ups be at Tsan Yuk Hospital

3. Do you have a recommendation for a GP (with reasonable fee) I can see that can give me the reference letter? Will the GP do a blood test to confirm pregnancy.

Thank you

Hey, just additional info. You'll need to call them first to make an appointment. First time registrations are only done either Tuesday or Thursday morning, if I remember it right. Also, you'll need to bring a proof of address to prove you're within their area.

You'll also need to take a letter from a doctor confirming your pregnancy; they won't register you without this. Also, be prepared for the registration appointment to last around 3 hours!! Take snacks and something to read :)
