How to get rid of paint smell from new dresser?

A new dresser arrived for DD's room today and the new paint is still quite strong. She has been having a cough lately and I don't want the paint to irritate her further. Unfortunately the movers have moved the dresser to her room already. It's huge and I don't think we can move it elsewhere (plus no space to put it anywhere else).

What can I do to get rid of the smell quicker? I heard there is some absorbing thing you can buy at supermarkets? All the windows are opened during the day.

we had the same problem 1 month ago with DD's bed from Art Deco. We opened the door and windows all day for about 2 1/2 weeks and the smell was still there. DD slept in our room during that period. Art Deco did tell us to buy the absorbant from Pricerite but we thot it was too much of a health hazard for our 2 year old child so we finally returned the bed. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Placing a pan of vinegar in the room should do it depending how strong it is!?! You can also try baking soda and/or cat litter. To mask the smell and freshen the air you can place a cotton ball soaked in pure vanilla extract in the room.

Good Luck!

try real fresh pineapples. remove the skin from a fresh pineapple & put it on a plate & put in the cupboard. you can use 1/2 pineapple for each closet. it really did the trick for my baby's bedroom.

I found using the fan part of the air conditioner and the windows open worked as it created more of a draft.
