any one any idea how to choose the best mattress for newborn ? they all say it has to be firm but thats it ....shud i buy foam or inner spring ? Mothercare Foam Coolmax mattress seems ok exceptthat it is still a bit on the soft side which can be dangerous if baby turn on her front and easily cover their face hence suffocate by moulding with the soft mattress ....

anyone with any good suggestion or experiences??

i bought a foam firm. inner spring is for longer lasting, so if your crib can be converted into a toddler bed, then it's good. a regular crib only last 2-3 yrs (my daughter will out-grow her crib when she turns 2, i think), that's why a bought a foam one, it's cheaper & i didn't need it to last long.

I have questions about the mattress for newborns as well -

1) Is the Mothercare Foam Coolmax not a safe choice?

2) Should we cover the mattress or not? The person at Mothercare said dont use a waterproof cover because the mattress needs to be ventilated, but I have read it is best to cover the mattress??

Thanks. :)

when i bought the crib, it came with 2 choices, foam or spring. i chose foam. i don't know much about the mothercare one.
