How long can I use the Baby Bjorn

I'm thinking of taking the baby bjorn carrier on holidays in summer. My daughter will be 15 mths old. At the moment she's about 9.3 kgs and 75cm long. Apart from the strain on my/husband's back (!), how safe is it to use a carrier with this size baby?

I don't want to get a baby backpack. Had one of these with my eldest and it was very big and uncomfortable. Any other suggestions?

I think the weight limit is between 25-33 pounds depending on the "model" and year you bought it. Technically, you should be fine. I used mine as long as was humanly possible.

The Ergo is all the rage in the US right now...

I don't know if you can get it in HK though.... here's a link...

It's a front or back carrier and is supposed to be insanely comfy.... I've heard of mamas using it with their 5 and 6 year olds!!! :)

If you need help finding it, let me know, I could find a US person who would ship for ya :)

The baby sling I?ve liked the most is the Mayawrap, http://www.mayawrap.com/p_mayawrap.php

I found it especially good when my babies were toddlers for two reasons.

1) It was very easy to get them in and out. This meant that they could walk for a while but as a 15-month can?t walk that far I was able to carry them again easily.

2) It was easier to get them higher when carrying them. Somehow the higher you are able to get the baby the less you feel the weight of the baby. My husband says it is because the center of gravity is higher. Anyway it definitely helps. Also they sit on your hip and this distributes the weight through your body thus making it easier to carry.

Thanks Kimberly and Barb for the links. We are actually going to the States next month, so I can have a look at the ergo there...and is the mayawrap the one you can get through LLL here?
