How do I register at Queen Mary?

Hi,
I am 8 weeks pregnant, I have 2 questions which I would be so grateful for your assistance with:

1. Can I choose which public hospital I go to or is it based on where I live. I live on Lamma Island, I want to go to Queen Mary.

2. How do I register for my first antenatal appointment at Queen Mary?

Many thanks!

you do not register at QMH, you deliver there. you register at Tsan Yuk for ante-natal care.

also, which hospital you attend depends on your catchment area. i think, though, the outlying islands would be covered by QMH.

Hi Alabaster,

I live on Lamma and delivered last year in Queen Mary. You first need to go to the doctor and get the pregnancy confirmed. If you go to the clinic on Lamma they will give you all the contact info for Tsan Yuk. You then call Tsan Yuk and give them the dates for your last cycle. At 12 weeks approx you go for your first appointment. I only had a few appointments at Tsan Yuk the rest were at Queen Mary.

Its all very straight forward.

If you want you can pm me and I will be happy to answer any questions.

Congratulations!!!

usually, the appts are at tsan yuk unless you are high risk, at which point you have your appts at QMH. at least, that was how it was back when i gave birth.

Hi Alabaster,
I'm actually in the exact same boat as you. 8 weeks, wanting to deliver at QMH and live on Lamma. crazy!

I just called Tsan Yuk and they made an appointment for me over the phone. Though I was under the impression Lamma is not part of QMH catchment area so I've told them my in-laws address.

ginger75, I've actually pm'd you with some extra questions - regarding the whole catchment area business. thanks!
