Hospitals for Delivering-HK Island

Hi, I have been recommended by my doctor HK Sanitorium - has anyone been there for their delivery? Can you please advice me if the hospital and nurses speak Cantonese primarily because i am an expat and cannot speak the language?

Matilda i believe has few semi private rooms (something i would be looking for). Is that true?

How is Canossa, anyone been there?

Would appreciate a response based on your experience.
 
I had my baby at Matilda and it was excellent, couldn't recommend it enough. Yes, they have semi private rooms. All the midwives spoke excellent english.
 
Matilda is absolutely superb. The team there is amazing and the care and attention is top-notch in every way. I must admit I don't have experience delivering elsewhere but I can imagine Matilda is in a class of its own. That said, I have friends who have delivered at Canossa and gave it excellent reviews as well.
 
My OB put me off Canossa this time because the major renovations they are doing now will still be going on in October when I'm due. He said there wouldn't be parking (more of an issue for him than me), and noise could make our first few days more stressful than they need to be.
Maybe it's worth talking to Canossa to see what renovations will be happening when you are due, and see what your OB/GYN thinks as they'll have most experience working there during the building.
 
thanks everyone. I was keen on Matilda too but my doctor doesn't seem to be too comfy with the option. He prefers HK Sanitorium or Canossa. I want to go with his comfort too because he would have his staff and facilities in these places to do a proper delivery. Since its my first time i am trying to get feedback from everyone. If Canossa is good i would like to go with it as its stne's throw away for me.....do these places requir deposit?
 
SHJ, you are absolutely right - go where your doctor feels most comfortable since that would hopefully mean a smoother delivery for you. He/She will feel comfortable in their surroundings and with the staff.
