I would like to send some unique gifts from Hong Kong back to family who just had a baby but I don't have any good ideas. Any suggestions? Also, where to find them? Thanks so much.

i would look for a children's book about life in hong kong... or a chinese outfit (they always go over well, although they are not very practical).

Shanghai Tang have some gorgeous kids and baby stuff, but it does not come cheap. Things that I love that we've either given or received include toy pandas, baby slippers (with Chinese characters for left and right) and jewellery boxes.

Yep, we like to give the above too : HK taxi, Shanghai Tang clothing, HK children's book like This is Hong Kong or A to Z Hong Kong (DYMocks, Bookazine and most bookstores have a Hong Kong for children's section). In addition, we like the Hong Kong t-shirts in Stanley Market which have some cute designs of things in HK - Star Ferry, Stanley Market etc...They come in white, grey and navy. Super cute and very inexpensive.

Shanghai Tang extended warehouse sale

Hello ladies,

Apparently, Shanghai Tang extended their warehouse sale to today and tomorrow (11am to7am).The sale is up to 90%. Children clothes are available too,but not a lot. About 15% of all.

The sale is located at Exchange Square 3, Level 3. The place is not very big, but very crowded. But definately worth going. (I went there twice last week, and I am going today and tomorrow.) :haha:

hi Ali,

I just called shanghai tang and they said it's by invitation only......i wanna go but i don't have invitation, do you have it?

hi crystal!

you dont need invitation.. just walk in like i did! they are so much stocks left apparently. I was there yesterday.. bought a nice cashmere cardigan which was priced at HKD4400 but was marked down to HKD 1000.. so the discount is quite legit- you just need to dig and depending on your luck! have fun!

i am pretty sure the sale has ended - the last day was saturday and you didn't need an invitation. we went wednesday. the sale was very cheap - things were around 75-80% off regular prices. i was told this sale happens i think every couple of years.....there was no bed linens, blanekts and towels though.

the store has adorable children's stuff - best selection is obviously in the peddar building.

Thanks Augustbump and southside for informing me that there is no need for invitation, i had pump milk for my baby this morning as i plan to go there, i have a couple of hours to shop. Thanks!!!

It's at exchange square 3, level 3, hope it's easy to find.

How do you know of this sale?
