Hi All,
I am entering my 24 weeks am going to deliver in queen Elizabeth hospital. Just had my first 20 weeks scan and proper doctor prenatal check up with QE for the first time. I have been seeing a private doc on the side. I was told by doc today that my condition is good and since I am low risk pregnancy so will not see the doc from now on. I will see midwife clinic in QE . Is it normal ?? Is midwife going to deliver me ?? I assume that midwife will inform the doc shall I have some condition developed later on ( from the private check up I have with my private doc ) ? Anyone can share their experience? Thank you !!!!

I'm having my baby in the public hospital too and attended the Geobaby Public Hospital information event. My understanding is that its normal practice for the mid-wives to deliver unless there is a complication in pregnancy or labor/birth.

It's normal, and if your labour is smooth it will largely be midwives at the hospital attending to you with the doctor popping in to check. I delivered at United Christian and the midwives were great and the doctor awful. The midwives sometimes have a lot more experience than the doctor who may be a resident.

I delivered at at private hospital and the midwives did everything. Dr literally came in at the last 2 minutes.

Totally agree, the midwives were lovely, kind and firm at the right moments. The doctor was just annoying. If nothing goes medically wrong, I much prefer having midwife care.
