Hiring a Maid

Having unsuccessful luck at hiring local maids. I've finally decided to hire a foreign helper. This will be my first time so does anyone have any pointers or any recommendations. There will be a newborn so is there anything i should be aware of or pay close attention to?
Any advice will help.

They have good recommendations at that link. Another question i have is i am trying to look for a philipino maid that has local experience and is soon finishing her contract. Does anyone know of any agencies that have a pool of these people?

We worked with a woman called Angie. They faxed us lots of application forms to choose from, then we screened them over the phone first, before selecting a few to interview in person. Worked well for us.

Routine Schedule for helper

I was also wondering if any mom has a daily/weekly/monthly routine schedule set out for their helpers. Would anyone mind sharing their schedules? Since I'm new at this, i'd like to get it right from the beginning. Thanks.

Our first helper started working for us a couple of months before D was born and I didn't give her a schedule....BIG Mistake! Plus I was eager to do everything for D myself and when I slowly started handing over more responsibilities things got out of control and the house got neglected. With our new helper, I sat down with her the first week and made a list of all her daily, weekly and monthly chores. I also gave her D's schedule and I left her to decide how to manage her time.

Helper's Helper includes a detailed schedule. I gave my helper a copy of the book when she started too.
 
There are often helper recommendations in Dollar Saver - mainly helpers who have been with a family in HK for a while and the family is leaving. The helpers in there sound great and you get the benefit of a recommendation from their current family.
 
Helper's help. Can I find a copy of this book at the bookstore? And who is the author?
