Helpers Living Out

Anyone have a helper who lives out and know the policy on this type of arrangement? I have heard that recently, it is illegal for any helpers to live out. Our helper told us that she is living in secrecy because it?s no longer legal. I?ve asked her for receipts from her landlady to show the rent she pays each month and she said that the landlady can?t provide because the rental of the dorm/boarding house is all under the table. I don?t want to do his underhanded stuff and have heard also that a letter or application can officially be made to immigration for the helper to live out.

Can anyone offer insight into this ?shady? business?

i heard the same thing. all new employment contracts entered into with helpers require that the helpers live in. however, some ppl do secretly arrange for live out arrangements.

I think this live in policy only applies to new contracts (not renewed contracts) after April ie, helpers who were live out prior to April would not be doing so illegally.
