Mine's coming up next month, she's only with us for a 1-2 months but so far I am quite pleased with her overall work. Wondering what is the norm here? money(if so how much), gift or just a card or nothing??? Please share your experiences, thanks

our helper started with us 2 weeks before her birthday. we gave her $500 then and have done so every year since (her 5th year with us is about to start).

i've also baked a cake for her and now my kids like to decorate it.

I know this is out of the date for the yukalim0404, but maybe useful for others...

i usually take her out for a dinner celebration, birthday cake at home and a present. I don't want to give money - rather do something special for them to feel happy their bday is being celebrated.

the first time i got her a birthday cake, she cried, it was her first birthday cake at the age of 38!!!!!

i usually buy presents depending on what they need/ like, New Balance shoes, adidas bags, Reebok jogging pants - all gifts around $300.

We also give cash and she makes a cake which she takes to church to share with her friends.
