Helper leaving,how to tell child

Our helper of 2 1/2 years is leaving our employment and I need to start preparing my 3 1/2 yr old. He's pretty close to her. He's quite used to relatives, friends coming and going and he doesn't get too upset when they disappear but this will be different I think. On the upside, her replacement is someone he already knows well and is quite happy with--and she'll be with us when the other one leaves. Anyone dealt with this with a young child? Any tips?

I would really try not to make too much of a big deal of it. You should definitely explain that she's leaving in advance and perhaps what she'll be doing. Your helper should talk about it to your child too. We recently left Manila and my daughter's YaYa couldn't come with us so we just explained to her that YaYa was staying to take care of JP (her own son). My daughter knows her son and this explanation was quite acceptable to her. My daughter has mentioned her a few times but I just remind her that YaYa is with JP and that's the end of it. I'm actually surprised. I thought it would be much more traumatic.
