helper leave excludes statutory/public holidays?

hello, my helper is going on her annual leave this december. i had planned a 2-week leave for her...however she informed me that her sundays and public holidays like christmas and new year are not included in these annual holidays....so in effcet she gets her 14 days plus 2 sundays and 2 public hols....is that correct/ pls. advise....thanks.
 
she is absolutely correct. if you were working for a company, you would get, say, 14 days annual leave but OF COURSE you would not expect this to include weekends and public holidays! so why would it be any different with DH's?
