My 7 week old baby has blood and mucus in his stool. The doctor suspects it's a milk protein allergy and wants to put him on Neocate. Does anyone know where I can purchase Neocate in HK?

In the meantime, the doc wants me to put my baby on soy milk formula.

We had to use Neocate for a while. Had it prescibed and bought it from Dr. Adrian Wu. But did not do much for us and baby much prefered the soy formula. Anyways, you can buy it from Dr. Wu's clinic but super expensive! http://www.allergy.hk/index-english.html They also gave us a card with the name of a supplier from which we could buy it, but I no longer have that information.

The doctor should have prescribed it for you. TRy Fronda (I think this is the name) at World wide House. It is very expensive everywhere - I think I used to pay nearly 500HKD. It worked within 1 week though.

Alfa, thanks for recommending Fanda at WW House. I went there yesterday and found a can of Neocate. I didn't buy the only can they had left (it will expire on Oct 3, 2012), I found their HK hotline printed on the can. I called them this morning to order a can.

Evelyne, thanks for recommending the allergy specialist. I'm going to bring my son to see him. Thank you!!

Hello, my baby is also on Noecate. Seems to be doing well. How much are you getting it for? I am getting it for HK450 a can of 400g.

Hi wudai (or anyone else),

Can you please tell me where you are getting Neocate these days. My son is 8 months old and are just discovering as he is coming off breastfeeding that he has a milk intolerance. Can I order it online in HK or is it readily available anywhere?

Thanks

I ended up giving my son Nutramigen (manufactured by Mead Johnson). It's cow's milk and soy free, you can buy it at IFC or Prince's Bldg Manning's. Alternatively you can order it thru MJ - just join their infant formula club.

Hi,

I know this is old but this may be useful for someone. My daughter has been on Neocate since she was 3 months old (she will be three next month). We first got Neocate from Jacobson at extortionate rates. So if you can, see if you can get friends/family from the US to send over.

We normally order 24 tins of Neocate (she's on Junior now) which, including shipping, costs us about HK$7,000. 24 tins from Jacobson would cost you about HK$10,000.

The only thing is your friends/family needs to have a friendly doctor who will write the initial prescription. Once you are in the Neocate system it's just a question of reordering.

Hope this helps someone. Useful to know if you're going to be using Neocate long term like us.
