My 15mth old boy refuses to have his teeth brushed. Every time when I try to put the toothbrush in his mouth he either closes his lips or uses his tongue to move it out. If I try harder he starts to cry! I tried to use cloth to clean his teeth but got the same result. Also tried burshing mine with him together but failed! I hate to force him but think dental care from early age is important. Appreciate any tips on getting his mouth open! Many thanks in advance.

We had the same problem and ended up having to make up games like "Let's make a funny noise, shee shee shee", "Let's make some bubbles in your mouth" etc etc. She will open her mouth for a brush when it's a game, but not when it's done all serious like let's do it like mummy.
Our girl is 11mth and we tried brushing her teeth for the first time last week. She resisted us from putting the brush into her mouth initially but when she tasted the tooth paste, she opened up her mouth & let us brush her teeth. We used the First Teeth baby toothpaste from our dentist, it's flouride free with active milk enzymes. She won't know how to spit out & we gave her water which she swallow, the toothpaste is safe with calcium & real apple-banana flavour. Now my helper brushes her teeth everyday after lunch & dinner and she's been cooperative, but of course got to distract her with something like the brush kit or toys, anyway my girl only got 4 upper & 4 lower teeth, so it only takes few seconds to brush on, you can try that.
We bought the toothpaste from Drs Costello & Associates Dentistry. You can check out local drug stores like Mannings or Watson but our dentist told us it's not easy to find in HK and we haven't checked out yet. This is the toothpaste I mentioned:
