HELP: need reference for postpartum depression

hello -

My wife is suffering horribly from postpartum depression, and she refuses any help...our second child was born approx. 8 months ago and the signs / symptoms of postpartum depression have come and go for a few months, but now she's talking about suicide, hurting herself, talking about how worthless she is, etc. I'm having a hard time finding a therapist to see. The infant has eczema and so wakes up frequently during the night...resulting in almost no sleep for my wife. stress levels are HIGH at home.

any references for an English speaking therapist/psych/etc. that we can see as soon as possible? (We're in Tseung Kwan O area)

thanks in advance

Hi Bigbook,

I have no personal reccommendation for you but an old thread on the subject gave a few names of doctors who helped.

Here is the link to the old thread.

I hope everything gets sorted for you all soon.

As a side note to the editors: could you all possibly get a a list of doctors who specialise in this, in the directory?

I believe Annerley have just taken on a specialist in this field, from what I've read she has suffered PND herself, I am sure they can give you more details.

Just to let you know I was flagged as high risk for ppd when I was in hospital having my son. The doctor specifically spoke to my husband about it and said if i ever started doing or saying anything that indicated I might harm my baby or myself he should take me straight down to A&E immediately.

Obviously that's not going to be fun for anyone, but I wanted to let you know there is somewhere you could go if you start to get really concerned - even if your wife hasn't actually 'done' anything.

many thanks to all of you and to others for the personal messages. I'll try to post a 'report' here when we've resolved this crisis.
