Hi! I've recently found out I'm pregnant and feeling helpless looking for an OBGYN! I have seen several posts on Alex Doo, Patrick Chan and others but really baffled about who to choose!

Any recommendations would be great! Likely I will be going Private to Matilda, Adventist etc.

Thanks!

To add I have now booked an appointment with Dr Charas Ong at the Women's clinic - has anyone seen her before? Is she any good? Her consultation fees seem very expensive...

Congratulations!!!

Have a read through this article on how things work in Hong Kong.
Pregnant in Hong Kong: Public vs. Private Hospitals - Hong Kong GeoBaby

Doctors based in Central tend to charge a bit more. You are in good hands with Dr Charas Ong. However, if you don't feel she's right for you, you can always switch.

Also, don't forget to join a Due Date Group, and meet other expectant parents.

Hi Rani

Thanks very much for your response! Yes I have had a read through many of the forums and recommendations but feeling slightly overwhelmed by the choices and decisions that need to be made!

We live in sheung wan so would like to have a doctor around the area especially if the appointments are in central my husband may be able to join.

Thanks so much for the information so far!

Hi Rani. I have a question about Annerly. This is a midwife clinic right? So this is support in addition to an OBGYN and the check ups you would have with your OBGYN is that right? So these are fees to consider in addition? I see on their website they have a package for those who will deliver in a private hospital (likely my choice) and so I just want to make sure these are not services to replace any from OBGYN it's all just great stuff to add on?

sb7020 Annerley's services do not replace an OBGYN and are add-ons.

If you're planning on delivering in a private hospital, then you will have your own private OBGYN who you will see monthly. Then you can consider signing up for their private plan which includes antenatal classes, and afterbirth home visits which are a great help for first time Moms.

Hi congratulation dear vickaly . Rani , could you explain me what is DUE DATE club ? I discover too than I am pregnant and i am so happy but stressful . I already book an appointement with docteur TSUI Michelle . But it is not yet I should to wait 2 weeks . Do you know if you can have a private doctor for some control but choose public hospital for the delivery? Thanks a lot

Heloise congratulations! The Due Date club is simply a group of expectant ladies who share the same due date as yourself. Have a baby is such an important stage in your life, you need a supportive group to share it with.

My group would meet weekly for long lunches. We were all seeing different OBGYNs, and it was nice to be able to share the information we received. Once the babies were born, the little ones had a playgroup.

I agree waiting til you're about 7-8 weeks before seeing a Dr. You should be able to see your little peanut and hear a heartbeat by then. In the meantime, if you're not taking a prenatal vitamin would pop into your nearest pharmacy and get one. Make sure it contains folic acid
