My wife is having our 2nd baby and due date is around December. We went to Prince of Wales Hospital last week and try to ask about booking for her delivery.
However, no answer was provided.
This is our first time having a baby in Hong Kong, our first baby was born in Shenzhen.

Anybody can share your experience on how to ask about booking in Prince of Wales Hospital or other public hospitals for baby delivery ?

Thanks a lot.

You need a referral letter from a HK obstetrician. Do you and your wife have HKID cards? if so, it should be pretty straightforward.

As Lisa88 says you will need a referral letter. It just needs to state your wife is pregnant and the estimated due date. This can be from a normal doctor or a private OB.

Once you have the referral your wife needs to take this to the hospital along with her HKID and I think yours as well. You also need a current (within the last few months) bill confirming your address. All public hospitals have a catchment area so this is to confirm you are in their area.

They have certain days for registering new cases from memory (I delivered there over 2 years ago) so give this number a call ph 2632 2470 and ask which day that is.

So then she just turns up on the day goes to 2/F, Li Ka Shing Specialist Outpatient Clinic (South Wing) Prince of Wales Hospital (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) and waits in line to show her letter, HKID and bill. They will give her a form to fill out and then once filled out she returns it to the counter and then waits for them to make her first appointment.

It is a long process for memory so make sure she takes a good book to read.

Hope that helps.
