does anyone know how to solve this or do i need to keep buying new bottles?

my MIL called me in a panic (i'm at work) that the bottle is leaking all over my baby! I don't know if it's broken and I need to buy a new one or is this a common problem I can solve???

HELP!

I used Avent and we sometimes had this problem. They would just leak but I was sure the lid was on proper. I started tagging the "suspect" caps and they would leek on and off. I don't know if it was a bottle or cap problem or a combo (a particular bottle with cap). Suffice to say that I did have about 8 bottles and if one leaked I just transferred to another bottle and it didn't. Never replaced or threw anything out...

Sorry I can't offer more constructive advice.

i had that problem as well with the born free plus bottles we have. i find that twisting open the cap & then wiping it dry (both the bottle part & the cap part), and twisting the cap back on helps. give it a try & see if it works.

I have a breastflow bottle and though I am not currently using it (baby rejected that in the end too:( ), I do remember there was some kind of leakage. I wonder if it`s because there are two parts to the nipples. ask your MIL to make sure that the parts are attached properly, like one `clicks` into the other.

thanks everyone, i'll try the wiping dry, and the switching caps thing to see if that works...i just went and bought another 3 bottles yesterday just to do that.

the odd thing is we took the bottle back from my MIL yesterday and tested it with water and it seemed fine?! Maybe it was just one odd leaking?

shenzhennifer, which bottle did your baby end up with?

Unfortunately it`s called the bottle of my breast:) The baby won`t take anything and I have long since given up. He`s 5.5 months now so I guess the next step will be sippy cup or regular cup.

sorry to hear that! we almost gave up too but my husband discovered that giving him the bottle while walking around works best as he's distracted but still hungry enough to eat. also, as i now work it was either bottle or go hungry!

I'm using Dr Browns and have the same problem....I don't know if all the steam sterilising causes the problem

i've heard that with some bottles if you screw the lid on TOO tight, they'll leak... so perhaps you should losen just a tad and they won't leak?

When my LO was using bottles, we found that sometimes the nipples would leak or spurt milk when the warm milk first touched them, but once they had warmed up as well they would be okay so we would just warm up the nipple first and then wipe the bottle dry and then it wouldn't leak again. Is the bottle leaking the whole time you are feeding?

It was leaking the whole time. I even tried to switch nipples with the first bottle (that leaked) and kept switching things back and forth to try it - no luck.

Tried VERY TIGHT, and tried a bit loose, etc, no luck either.

I emailed breastflow and they asked me to go exchange it at the store, but i don't suppose B2B will exchange it for me?!
