We only use heaters in the living room not the bedrooms, I've got a fan heater to warm up quickly which I wouldn't put on the floor with a toddler on the lose! I tend to use the oil filled radiator more, it gets quite hot but not scalding and is so heavy it can't be pushed over easily. I guess it's a space issue too, they recommend certain sizes for certain rooms and you want something you can store easily for the rest of the year.
