Hi Engee,
I just got tip-off from my HK friend that replace the water in your child formula with barley water. Tried that and worked for my 2 kids. Hope that will work for you too. Occasionally, I give the barley drink (barley boil with wintermelon sugar?? something like that) for the whole family.

Like to hear what other moms have to say as well...

Hey newbies,
thanku for ur reply.shall try it out for sure.btn what do u call barley in chinese?i might need it to get it across in the shops here.

i can find it in wellcome i presume.

Thanx!

Barley water is one alternatives. Trying brewing carrots, waterchestnuts, sugarcane & 'mao gan' which can be bought from wet markets or Wellcome/Parknshop which are ready-packed. I brewed this once or twice a wk for my toddler son as he also gets heat rashes when the weather gets too hot & humid.

Barley = "Ee mi" in chinese. But got to pronounce it with the right tone as each chinese word has 4 tones. I should think those chinese dried food shop can understand it in English. My friend gave me Premium barley. The price is almost 3x of that of normal quality that we seen in general shop. Not sure what the "PREMIUM" has to offer other than being looks better (may be it give a thick broth with just a small amount of barley as compare to those normal quality?). Anyone?

Thanku so much for the replies newbies and precious babe.
I have started him on barley water.I have also started giving him cucumber ad carrot soup(cucumber is good to reduce heat).
shall find if i can get mao gan. What is exactly?

thanx again moms!

There few veg with cooling property - wintermelon, sea coconut, watercrest...they are also great with soup

I see, What do u call watercress in chinese?
Ei Mei was very helpful.

I am not sure how it looks...

watercress = sai yeung choy?
engee, you oughts be careful about not cooling your baby's body off to much. take a look at his tongue, if white, then can give more wintermelon soup, but not too much "mao gun". if red, can consider giving him watermelon. but everything in moderation. once u see improvement, should stop. u don't want to tip off his yin/yang balance to the other side.

best to get chinese herbalist help.

good luck.

U r absolutely correct joannek.i hadn given that much of a tot ever since i saw those nasty rashes on his face.

thanku so much for ur time.
