I am looking for a medical insurance for my babygirl of 22 months which is not too expensive and has a good coverage both in-patient and out-patient. Has anybody tried HSBC?. Will appreciate any suggestions you can give me.
:thanks

starbucks2 - does HSBC require that you have a referral letter to see a pediatrician? (mine does (BUPA) - big pain in the but.)

Jennifer - I can't remember actually as we hardly ever take him to a ped (normally just to our GP who has some ped qualifications). We also have different insurance through my husbands work and we do need a GP referral to see a specialist through that insurance. We generally would take him to see the GP first anyway so hasn't been too much of a hassle so far.

We have had Allianz insurance before and had to battle them for EVERY claim so would not choose them again.

Thanks SB2 - am thinking of switching for the next contract year, but want to find one that is less of a hassle for me. That`s great that you have a GP like that.

We use AIA and the coverage is good and the price is good as well. Our son did not need to be seen my a doctor prior to the start of coverage.

Jennifer - I checked my HSBC insurance and I apparently don't need a referral for a specialist visit so HSBC may be worth looking into.

Thanks. I thought that this practice of referral letters was a bit strange (and extremely annoying and inconvenient). Glad to see that there are other companies a bit more accomodating.

Thanks to everybody above for your kind suggestions.
SB2 good to hear that you r happy with HSBC. I'll will consider it. I have contacted an insurance broker "Medibroker".They have suggested some insurance companies.I still havent looked into them . Will keep you'll posted...

I am also looking for insurance coverage for my baby and will check out HSBC and AIA based on the feedback here. Any other recommendations would also be appreciated.

Is it only with expat insurance schemes that I can visit doctors of my own choice?
