Health Insurance for family

Hello all.

My question is about health insurance for my family. They are only (at least initially) going to be in HK for 4 months (I have been here fro 8 months already), but definately want to get health insurance as we have 2 young kids (3.5 years and 2 months).

Does anyone have a recommendation for a provider for this short space of time? I'm looking for something that would allow us to go to a private hospital in the event of an emergency.

One other thing is- I have a HKID, but neither my wife nor kids will have one for the 4 months they will be here. If we extend our stay, I plan to get them one. Does this make any difference to the health care they could recieve?

you can check out BUPA - they have a discount if a couple apply, and the price for the child is 65% of that of the parent...not sure if it's the cheapest - but i just got it...the only catch is that you have to go to certain doctors - you might want to double check that the doctors in your area that you might eventually end up going to are under the BUPA coverage (there should be a label on their door with BUPA).
