Head lice found in infant's hair

Hi,
My baby of almost 3 months now has caught head lice. None of the family members have lice so I am quite shocked and confused. She has a full head of hair-much more hair than what normal babies of her age.
Looking forward to any advice on how to get rid of this problem

Thanks in advance
xx

well, start combing out the eggs and the lice.

you can get special lice/egg killing shampoo from bumps to babes i believe.

i would suggest also rubbing watered down tea tree oil or peppermint oil behind your baby's ears. lice hate the scent of both these fragrances. i put tea tree leaf oil in my children's shampoo and behind their ears and we have never had head lice in our home, although we seem to get everything else.

good luck. if you google head lice you will get lots of sites on combing out lice and time frames.

lastly, head lice is a very normal diagosis around hong kong. it seems every month or so someone we know has it. please don't be alarmed or worried or think that you have done something wrong.

hey dimsum mum..do u know from where can i buy 100% tea tree oil in HK; is bodyshop good or let me know if u know of an effective brand that u have used already

Are you sure it is lice? It seems really srange that the baby would get lice if no one else has it. I don't think I would use any chemicals, even tea tree oil on a baby that little, but at 3 months my babies didnt ahve much hair anyways so it would be easy to just pick them off. Maybe go to the health unit to see if it really is lice to start with. I've had to check many a head for lice for my job and sometimes what people think are lice really aren't.

I agree with Capital. Please bring her to the local Maternal and Child Health Clinic to make sure that she has head lice before applying any chemicals. I also think the government would be interested in knowing if there is an infestation so that they can help you address it.
