Has anyone had a recent birth/breastfeeding experience at st.paul's hospital?

Hi there,
I'm a first time mom and expecting my baby in April.

I've already registered at st.paul's hospital in causeway bay.
Since I'm a first time mom, I'm very concerned about breastfeeding my baby as long as I can. I'm just wondering how the nurses/ staffs r in helping and guiding u through breastfeeding at st.paul's.

Any experiences or feedbacks would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!!!

I gave birth at St. Paul's by C-section in Dec. 2012, and is going to have another baby there later this year. Overall I had a positive experience, but I think your experience will probably depend on what your expectations are. First, I had a private room, which was great because I could have the baby in my room a lot of the times and also get some rest, and that is partly why I had a good experience. I think if you didn't have a private room, you could only see the baby at certain hours. Also, they fed the baby formula for the first three days. Personally I wasn't too fussed about it, but I know some moms may not want that. They had breastfeeding sessions once or twice a day in a breastfeeding room where nurses can help you and show you a few things. I thought that was very helpful, but again, if you want to try to have the baby nurse all the time it probably wouldn't feel enough. As far as breastfeeding goes, my baby had mixed feeding in her first couple of weeks, but by week 3 or 4 she was on breastmilk only and I breastfed her for 7 months. Just from personal experience, I think mixed feeding in the early weeks is OK. Hope that helps. Best of luck!
