Hello,
I have heard different opinions about dyeing your hair during pregnancy. Does anybody know if it is allowed or not?
Thank you very much in advance!

if you go to salons, they would do it for you but i've heard the results may not come back as you wished for..due to our hormones during pregnancy..same as perming hair too

I was thinking to perm my hair, but i think i'll wait!

Hi,
thank you.
I am not worried about the results...more about the chemicals and if they do something to the baby...

Hi

I tinted my hair in pregnancy - but its a common question.

Maybe one to ask your obstetrician!

Though they will probably err on the side of caution.

Let us know if you do ask! :tmi

Hello,I have just asked my doc, if I can color my hair. He said only if I use vegetable color (like Henna). All others contains chemicals and it is proven that it reaches the baby - not what it can cause...but for him this is enough to say no.

My hair stylist would not recommend a permanent but rather a conditioning colour. he also took an extra step to layer my coloured hair with a sheet of foil so he cokours my hair and not my scalp. it takes a lot of patience ( him and me too) but I really needed it as I have a lot of gray and in my line of work I can't really afford to look unkempt and frumpy.

You can get a full head of lowlights or highlights done - both cover gray hair and the color is applied with foils without touching the scalp. It takes a bit of time to do, but well worth it if you are concerned about hair color chemicals.

Just wait. You can have plenty of studies to the contrary, but unless it is absolutely necessary, it's not worth risking any chemicals leaching into the baby's blood stream.
