Good Value Baby Clothes?

Any advice on the best place to get cheap but reasonable quality baby clothes in Central please? The prices in Mothercare etc. are OTT in my opinion... Stanley market is a bit of a trek. Is there anywhere else?

Thanks,
Catherine

Have you tried the lanes in Central? Li Yuen St East and West. East has a couple of good stores.

I've had some good purchases from "Togs Unlimited" at Unit 8A, Kimley Commercial Building, 142-146 Queen's Road Central/Peel Street (across the road from The Central Building). They sell Mothercare etc clothing, but at far better prices.

H&M is great!
When you add the transport cost of going to Stanley and back, it works out the same - to shop at H&M

Also, everything is on sale now. Got OshKosh t-shirts for half price and would have been reduced another 25% if I bought 5. Worked out to be the same as at Stanley or Giordano.

In TST there are little shops that sell stock that fell off the wagon too. Have gotten some good t-shirts there $39 a t-shirt. I've seen baby clothes too.

I bought some baby Gap rompers for winter at $30 apiece - its authentic baby Gap as the lable is printed not sewn on the item. Its a bit of a trek over to Prince Edward though ( i bought it off a market stall in fa Yuen Street) but the choices there are pretty good.

I know this may be out of the way for lots of people but there is a sample sale kid's clothing sale on today (Thursday) and tomorrow from 8:30 til 5pm in Clearwater Bay.
Its at Ryan Court, Ng Fai Tin, Hang Hau Wing Lung Road.
They have DKNY, KENZO, Naf Naf Lulu, Elle, Imps & Elfs, Berlingot Clayeux, Chevignon, Felix & Janosch, Surcre d'Orge, Petit Bateau etc.
I went this morning and they have lots of things priced between 20 & 100 dollars, lots of lovely clothes from newborn to around 10 years old.
Cash only.
Its about 5 minutes from Hang Hau MTR station.
Call Emilie 91888058 if you need further information.
When I got there at 11:30 there were still lots of clothes there and they were still bringing boxes out.
Hope some of you may find this interesting.
Enjoy

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, will check them out.

SyL - I find the baby shops - mothercare, bumps to babes etc. - expensive when I compare them to prices back home in the UK, but I guess its all relative and depends what your budget is...

I think the trip to stanley is worth it. From Central it`s only $6 each way on the bus, a nice ride. Tons of baby shops. I also think the prices at the other shops in Central are pretty over the top. Even at H&M, you still have to pay about $80 for a sleeper. Smaller markets have little selection, but Stanley is worth it once in a while, just to go and do a big shop.

if ever anyone of you is going to Prince Edward 's Fa Yuen Street, I would recommend a place called Treasure Outlet. If you stand in the middle of the street and walk down(both sides are lined with stalls) you should see a huge sign that says treasure outlet. They have lots of baby clothes most for infants under 1 year, and very well priced. I found some gap stuff there as well as Lindex from sweden.

You mean the baby clothing shops in Stanley or the market itself? I just went for the first time the other month. I took the bus there, got off at the exchange where you're apparently supposed to get off, and followed the signs. You basically go down all the escalators, onto the promenade and then there are obvious signs to the market, which is really close. The baby clothes shops are kinda all round, everywhere. They're not really good at bargaining there though, from what I've noticed.
I'm lucky since, living in SZ, I was able to stock up for the baby's first 3-5 months at the cheap markets here. Same stuff as Stanley, but much cheaper. Now that's a real trek;)

I recommend H&M as well. I normally visit thier St Albans and Hemel Hempstead branch. With the pound so weak, it's even cheaper in the UK. Bought loads of baby clothes on sale for 1 GBP each the other day, or HK$11.50!!
