Getting an Australian passport for HK born baby

really?! I must have missed the fine print and forced my Aussie friend come all the way to my house and signed for me..hehe..that's what the friends are for I guess...

Not if you are applying from abroad. For overseas applications, proof of identity can be completed by "a citizen of the applicant's country of residence" [i.e. Hong Kong] employed in one of the stated occupational groups.

(It's in the fine print on the application form.)

That's easy for us anyway because my husband works at an Australian law firm - lots of Australian lawyers there!

I'm stressing less about this now - thanks guys! You're awesome!!

A tip re getting the passport photo. After trying and trying and trying and trying to get bub to lie on a white sheet and look at me for the photo, I gave up and went to the photo place in IFC mall. It's on the third floor, might be a Fotomax (not sure), but if you go upstairs from Dymocks it's not far from there. They got me to hold bub in front of the correct background (as he was too young to hold his head up himself), got the photo first go and then simply used Photoshop or similar to remove my hand from the photo. Saved hours of frustration at home!
