Thanks for the link.
We will definitely be enrolling out son there! My husband and I are both Australian. He is German and I am Singaporean. So our bub is Eurasian. There is a big community German community at the Gold Coast area and I know my husband has mentioned one running here at $80 per session. But, the kids there are older so he wasn't too keen on it just yet.
Our son will be 1 year old next week. If anyone else is in the same age group and have found a playgroup teacher, and is willing to co-ordinate the playgroup, please let us know. We'd be interested to hook up too.

I should add that we are planning to send him to the GSIS - German stream. So, we would like a native or near native German speak running the playgroup. His dad communicates solely in German to him while bub and i communicate in English.

Hi there
this thread might be abit old already, but we are interested in joining a German-speaking playgroup for our 1-year old girl.
I am German but cant spend nearly as much time with her as my wife who speaks Cantonese.
Any tips would be great.

Hi, all,
I think the aim of the German playgroup in HK is to help children who is not native German speaker to learn German. This may not suit your expectation towards playgroup at all. Here is one that my girl is going to: Le Beaumont Language Centre

Hi
we're more interested in having babygirl more exposed to German language, rather than only daddy talking to her for 1/2 hour in the evening.
Thanks for the tip though, will check it out.

Hi Stefan_8

The person who organises the playgroup is away on her summer holidays in Germany right now (I think) as I've not seen her around. I've got to dig up her email address. Will do that tomorrow... and will PM you the details once it's been dug up.

Cheers!

German Playgroup / classes

Dear Sophia,
Regarding you queries about a German playgroup.
There used to be one in Mid-Levels, which has just moved to a fantastic language school in Wellington Street, Central, near the escalator. The group will start again next week Wednesday, at 4pm, for 1.5 hours. One can start anytime and fees are very reasonable. It is suitable for all levels, even native and is without parents, so you may do something in the meantime.
They also have a small German library for use by the students.
Don't know if you have older children too, as I know they even offer homework support for older kids going to GSIS, or German for German classes for kids going to non-German schools, as well as adult classes.
My friends' 2 year-olds go there, so you are welcome to contact me for more info.

Dear Birgit,

We are moving to HK this month.
We are both German speaking with a 19 months old daughter.
May I also contact you for more information about the German playgroup? Thank you.

German Playgroup / classes

Welcome to HK then! I just learned that one can have a trial class and that they offer a special discount this month, as well as having packages available, so it does sound interesting. Do contact me anytime. Have a good move, Birgit

German classes or pre-schools

Dear Birgit,
Many thanks for your fast reply - I will contact you gladly by pm. It sounds exactly like what I need.

Dear Birgit
This is really good news. I have not found a German Speaking playgroup for kids in the past 1.5 years. Do share with us more info. Is it a playgroup organized by German parents privately or a commercial playgroup ?
Anna

German group

Hi Anna,
the one in Wellington Street is run by a Native German Parent, Wednesdays afternoons from 4-5.30 pm and is "commercial" but one can have a trial class anytime. There are also private options, depending on the age of the children and schedules.

Hi,

I know this is a really old thread, just wondering if this playgroup or anything similar still exists?

Thanks

Hi,

hoping someone can give me some tips or ideas or share their experience in finding a German playgroup/get-together. Kids from parents of this thread are surely all big kids now considering that this thread has been here for pretty long time.
I've been desperately looking for a German speaking playgroup for my 2.5 yr son. Im working full time so I can only spend an hour or so during weekdays taking to him in German. Husband doesnt speak German, nor does the grand parents.
Can someone please help and advise?

Thank you.

Hi,

I am interested in starting a weekend German playgroup. I don't speak German, but my husband speaks it exclusively to our kids (3 and 1). We live in Sheung Wan.

Hi all! I know this is a really old thread but may I know if there?s any German playgroup in 2019? My daughter is almost 1 and I would like her to learn some conversational German through playing with mates, so that she can communicate with her Opa and Oma when she?s back to Austria!

I speak Cantonese, mandarin, English, German (Austrian accent) xx
