At my last appt at QMH (which was on Friday the 15th), I weighed 68 kg (noted by the nurse).

Today I went for my latest check-up, I weighed 70 kg also noted by the nurse.

She said how did I gained so much within a few days?? Everything was noted (I took off shoes etc) but apparently I really did gain that much!!

I'm 37 weeks today...has this happened to anyone here? Should I start eating less? Thanks!

Don't worry about the last kilos, it can also depends on the time of the weight, the clothes you were wearing, if you went to the toilets before... I remember gaining lots of kilos in the last weeks, after being stable for 1 month, I took 4 kilos in 10 days !!

The nurse said the clothes that I was wearing didn't contribute to that much of the weight...plus I went to the toilets and didn't have any food yet...

you shouldn't worry at all. it's normal to put on more weight closer towards delivery. at 37 weeks, you should be eagerly anticipating the arrival of your baby and enjoying the last couple of weeks with your husband (and sleeping as much as you can), don't waste it worrying about weight :)

good luck!!

Do you feel you are eating a lot more these last days, or junk food, or sweets, or fat ? if you haven't changed anything to you diet, then you have nothing to worry about...

Was it the same time of day? Because we weigh less earlier in the day.

With you being 37 weeks, it could be anything, I'd probably guess a bit more fluid retention. But I wouldn't stress about it as long as you're feeling ok and bub is still doing ok too. I do think that they stress too much about weight - and I also think that the weight charts they use are for petite Chinese ladies that have 5lb babies instead of larger framed westerners who have babies more like 8lb... I didn't gain that much (according to the books I read) in my pregnancy, but at QMH they still told me I was gaining too much. I was BELOW my pre-pregnancy weight when my bub was only 2 months old, so I have no idea what planet they were on, but it wasn't reality!!

My friend gained 10lbs in her last week. I also had weeks when I was gaining more than `recommended` and always got comments from the nurses.
You`re at the tail end, so don`t stress about it. I remember looking so fat and puffy those last couple of weeks. A lot of it is water and will go away after delivery. They would have checked your blood pressure at your visit so I assume it`s ok.
Eat as normal, as much as you feel comfortable. And continue to drink plenty of fluids. Good luck~

i gained 25 kilos throughout the pregnancy and yes, got told off by the nurse at every checkups. just ignore them! as long as your bp is normal and bub and you are doing ok then that's all that matters.
the good thing is - after 6 months, i managed to lose 20 kilos (thanks to breastfeeding?!).

Should I start eating less?

NO!!! Please eat well, you and baby need a healthy diet at this point in time, as everyone said don't worry, as long as you and baby are doing fine :)

I would be happy to be putting on weight and knowing that my baby is growing to be a lovely healthy size than worrying about it. The opposite would be extremely worrying. I tend not to look when they weigh me!

That's totally normal. Ignore all of the negative feedback you get from any nurses and doctors in HK when it comes to weight-gain. Gaining a lot at the end of a pregnancy is totally normal as that baby is putting on weight and also you could be retaining more fluid too. Heck, I was like 70 kg when I got pregnant to begin with. You've got nothing to worry about!

Thank you all for the advice and suggestions...Geomum regarding the preeclampsia the DR got that checked out too...so I'm just glad everything is fine!!:)
