Freezing Congee

Can we freeze congee like other baby food? Does anyone do this? I was told that I am supposed to cook congee freshly everyday and no freezing because this will give the baby "wind". Thanks!

MayC

do you freeze just the plain congee and then one you warm it add meat?
am starting solids soon and preparing myself for what i should and can do.

thanks!

Yes, I want to ask the same question as well: do you just freeze the plain congee or do you freeze congee that has meat or vege or fish, etc in it?

Hi MayC, I tried to freeze congee last week but when I heat it up, I noticed that there is extra water in the congee. Is this normal?

when you freeze meat or veggie, do you mash without extra fluid (breastmilk, formula or water) but add it after you thaw the cubes?

thanks!

Traditional older people would oppose to freezing congee since it will destroy the nutrients in it. You may try this alternative: Boil the congee until it boils and boil for another five mins (alone, without meat). Leave it in the pot with the lid closed or pour it into a vacuum flask/pot.

For the congee turning watery, it's not a good thing considered by most people, though it may not be harmful.
