Foot and mouth disease

Ever since my 2yr old has started going to playschool he has been catchimg flus and always has a runny nose. Its been only one month since he started the playschool and he likes it too.

2 days back we noticed rashes in his mouth, slightly swollen gums and fluctuating body temperature.
The doc said it is Foot and mouth disease, a viral infection,a common thing that affects kids of his age and those who go to nurseries etc.

Has any moms come across this?
Did u give ur baby anythn special to eat?
I give him orange juice and the doc adviced lots of water which my son hates.

I wud like to know more from other moms.

My nephew had this when he was 20 mths old. He was on antibiotic for about 1 week. He lost appetite, had rashes on his face and legs. My sister ended up pureeing everything for him so it was easy to swallow. She also cooked some parsley soup which was supposed to "reduce the heat" in his body.

His rashes lasted for about 2-3 weeks. It was contagious so he did not interact with other kids too closely during that time.

But not to worry too much, the rashes will go away eventually. The important thing to do now is to make him feel comfortable and try to feed him something smooth. Finally, take a look at this article.

Actually my son has no rashes on his feet or anywhere else and thankfully things arent very bad.

doctor said its an infection however hasnt prsecribed antibiotics.dono why.he usually doesnt and my son gets well in a few days time.but this time th einfection has just subsided not cured.


we have been going to the doc on and off for a month for somethn or the other.

Phlegm is stuck in his chest and throat and he wont spit it out.
Doc gives med again and again...but no use.

We dono what to do.
My friend suggested ningiom pipa thats the chinese name we can buyt it from the pharmacy and well come etc.
Seems its good for cough and phlegm etc....

does anyone know abt it?
