Just wondering why the food for babies are sooooo expensive? Are they particularly GOOD for babies or it's just the merchants' way to make profits by using the word "baby food" ?!?
Examples are:
Organic Pasta - One pack of 200g organic wheat macaroni for baby cost HK$45; whilst I can get a pack of 500g also organic wheat macaroni for HK$29. I check the ingredients & the nutrition content on both packings and I can't see any big difference really...
Organic Yogurt - Organic yogurt for babies (e.g. YoBaby) costing over HK$60 for 6 super tiny packs; A big jug of normal organic Yogurt (e.g. YeoValley) costing less than HK$30.- I am told that as long as the sugar level in the yogurt is not high, you don't need to get those yogurt said only for babies. Then again, I checked the nutrition content of both brands and I don't find a huge difference there.
Organic oatmeal for baby doubles the price of normal organic oatmeal...
It's not a question of whether I can afford it or not... but a question of whether there is any real need. I think, if the nutrition content are more of less the same of those "normal food", I can't see why I should pay twice more...
Do you mommies out there all go for those "food for babies" ?
