are there any parents with kids who are food allergic (e.g. nuts, eggs, dairy, wheat, soy, etc etc) and interested in meeting for lunch to share info/experiences?

Food allergies

Hi there,
My daughter who is 5 has many food allergies , the worst being nuts and egg which she develops anaphlaxis to. I also have a two year old son who is healthy. We are moving to Hongkong from Australia in May and have begun to wonder about buying foods, eating out etc. I would be happy to catch up then if that is any help.
Regards,
Sally.:burnout:

glee, ohhhhhhh, please doooo set up such a "club" and I hope there would be others answering to this thread! I have an 18-month-old girl with severe allergies, and like sophwillsmum, she reacts severely at the mere touch not consumption of eggs. It is really raelly difficult introducing food to her as she reacts to soooo many foods and I am not kidding - she is allergic to even apples, cauliflower, pork, banana, not just eggs, wheat, milk. and it is frightening that the list is growing by the day. so I can totally empathise. that is why I decided to give up my career to stay home to care for her. How old is your child?

I live in Ocean Shores, Tiu Keng Leng, on kowloon side, and please do tell me you are living nearby. If closeby, we can certainly meet up. I tried, though unsuccessfully to set up a support group last year as most of them are full time working mums plus I move out of Central, where they are living. If you are in Central, I can certainly ask them if they are interested to meet you.

Good luck!

my son who is 3 years old has bad environmental allergies (pollution, dust, pollen, etc.) since he was born.

we are now trying NAET and homeopathic medicine. when he was tested with NAET, he actually tested positive for lots of food allergies too, which we weren't aware of (he has no severe reactions). he's being treated for them now, will see if there is improvement in few weeks time.

My son's 2 now and have multiple food allergies (egg, dairy, nut, wheat, corn) - at least the ones we've tested so far! When we started the process, I found that there is very little information and resources in Hong Kong and eating out was and still is a big problem. Even our doctor at the time was completely unhelpful. (e.g. when asked why the area around my son's mouth was turning purple during our first dairy allergic experience, the response was because skin around that area is thin and lots of veins?!?!?!) Just thought might be useful to meet up, discuss/share info etc. Being a working mom, understand that w/e tends to be family time, hence it'll have to be lunches in Central, Mommybee if u r available/interested? Please do let me know if there is any interest from the others ?

glee, i can meet for lunch in Central but would have to be without my child cos she can;t sit still for long. As to the rash around your son's mouth - TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!! If you have been reading my past threads, you would know my daughter has a recurrent ring rash along her lip line every 5 days, without fail, from when she is 6 mth old to now at 18 months, which drives me absolutely crazy. It is only starting from last month that the rash, for unknown reasons, didn't come back after the 5 day telltale mark. Last week I gave her cow's milk, and the rash is back slightly again. guess it is dairy like your son's that is one cause of the rash.

Do let me know if you wanna meet - I am willing to travel to central, no problems, and can buy her organic supplies at the same time.
