If you are trying to be pregnant now, it's better to start before, because your baby should benefit the vitamines before you realise your are pregnant....
According to my doctor you should begin taking the supplement 30 days before you get pregnant. So, in reality, you take it as soon as you start trying to fall pregnant. If you're pregnant now dont worry - lots of people don't start taking it until they find out that they are pregnant.
hi hi, i took the 400mg ones before my pregnancy, i have read that you should get your body ready before your pregnancy. And currently taking 800mg since I am pregnant. Hope this helps
the egg that is fertilised the month you fall pregnant starts maturing 90 days before ovulation. it is therefore recommended that you begin folic acid three months prior to ttc. good luck!
I started taking folic acid supplements when we started trying to conceive. I think you are supposed to do this or even one month before. But if you haven't been taking them and find out you are pregnant then you should just start taking them as soon as you find out.
If you're trying to conceive, it's recommended you take folic acid 400 mcg. Get a folic acid supplement or preconception/pregnancy mutivitamin as regular multivitamins often have less than the recommended amount of folic acid.
many thanks for all your advice.
i have the same question, which brand of folic acid supplement you will recommend or i have to get prescribe by O&G Dr?
General womens multi vitamins often contain the requisite amount of folic acid. Check your multi vitamin - it may be that you don't need a seperate supplement.
