Flying on Cathay Pacific to Los Angeles with 10month old

Hi, i was just wondering if anybody has flown to LA with cathay in the last month or two with a baby. Were you allowed to take water in a thermos on board? Did they make you dump the water at security? What about when you land in LA? Do US customs go through your liquids too? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as i leave for LA this week and am nervous about the formula making on board if they dont allow me to take water! thanks!

Hi, I flew to New York with my 3 year old son last February, and yes, with Cathay Pacific. He had his water bottle and another small pack of juice and all went well at the security check. They will just pull you aside to ask a few questions and check. I was at the security check point with a mother and her baby and her diaper bag was also being checked. She had her thermos and baby formula and also just got the routine check. No big issues as long as you are able to justify that liquid is just water/juice or milk for the baby/toddler. Hope this helps

Thanks MikeyMom

Im going to go pack my thermos and hope they let me take the water on board! I guess if they make me dump the water i will have no other choice than to use the bottled water on board cathay.

Just got back yesterday from Bali.

Going in and out of HK was no problem.
I took water in baby bottles and formula separatley (400mls total) plus jars of baby food and a sippy cup of juice.

Presented them at x-ray, all no problem.

I guess they may be a bit fussier flying out of the US, but from this end, just take what you want and as long as it's obviously for the baby it will be fine.

When we last flew I put my sons sippy cup of water and a few jars of baby food I had on me in a clear plastic bag in my hand luggage; I then put the hand luggage through the x-ray. I wasn't stopped, they didn't ask to check it.
They didn't query anything in my bag.

So agree with Matty- as long as it's obviously for a baby just take what you need and don't worry about it!

Worst case scenario they have Evian and another brand of nice water that I can't remember the name of on the plane
