Flu vaccine?

Just wondering how many moms have/will get the flu vaccine for their babies and toddlers? Is this year particularly "bad" for the flu, or are there news articles every year?

:grouphug:

we got ours end of november. if it's your baby's first time, they need 2 shots.

babies and the elderly are high risk candidates for the flu virus.

My boy is 7.5 months, there are too many different types of viruses, one shot won't do it, so might as well trust our own immune system.

Got ours in November. Was my twins 2nd time and my oldest's 4th time. We used to live in the US and it's pretty much standard practice there too. I've gotten one the past few years as well, twice because I was pregnant (first m/c and second time with twins) and then the last 2 years as well being a primary care giver. I offered my helper as well and she also had it.

my baby did get one last year, and she had a fever for about 3 days. my husband and i dont get the vaccine because when we have gotten it in the past, we were sick for about 1 week.

so basically most babies in HK get the vaccine?

Mom2Sofie&Twins is right - it is standard in the US and so that's why we gave it to our son as well. Yes, a side effect of the vaccine (and with others too) is that you might come down with a slight fever for a few days after, but that's normal and our son was actually fine.

When living in HK you are in the virus capital of the world. Our doctor strongly recommended us getting it as it can be fatal in some cases with babies.

My helper got it as well.
