I read the thread on HK vaccinations which was very helpful. However, most of the articles did not mention the flu vaccine. I am curious to know whether most ppl in HK do give their babies flu vaccination? My pediatrician did advise that I should have my 11 month old vaccinated as he said it was advised by the HK govt and US CDC.

As a matter of fact I'm taking my 10-month-old daughter to have the vaccination this Saturday, my pediatrician also advised me to have my little one vaccined.
I took my baby to take flu vaccine when he is 5 mths old. Per my pediatrician, below 1 yr old, have to take 4 shots. After 1 yr old, 2 vaccine and after 2 yrs old, 1 vaccine only. But he mention that below 2 yrs old kid is the easliest affect group. He said in US, it can take after 2 months old.
Our 6 month old will get the shot in December. When you read the CDC recommendations, they really want the very young, the very old and those with certain preconditions to have the shot because the flu could be fatal. Anyone not covered by those groups would probably survive a bout with the flu, but that doesn't mean they can't/shouldn't have the shot.
My son (2yrs 4 mos) just got his flu vac. today. I remember last year I asked my paed. to give him the flu vac., but he reminded me that my son had shown an allergic rection to egg white (at 1 yr old) and he told me that the flu vac. is cultured in chicken eggs, so he did not recommend my son to receive the vaccination.
Since then my son has outgrown his reaction to egg white, so it is OK for him to have his flu vac. this year.
Babies are not supposed to eat egg white before the age of one, and the vaccine is cultured in eggs, then, I'm just wondering, it is OK for young babies (who might be allergic to eggs) to get the flu vaccine? Could someone shed some light on this?

My son is going to turn 6 months in Nov and our pediatrician is recommending us to give him the vaccines. However, I am still debating this since the vaccine is an injection of virus into my son. So I am not sure that this is what I want to do to him.
