Fitted Sheets

Does anyone have any experience with getting fitted sheets made in Hong Kong? We ordered a custom-size matress from Sea Horse but they couldn't suggest anywhere we could get sheets made- even though they made the waterproof sheets for the matress!
Also, what is the best material to use? Cotton or a mix?
Thanks in advance.

hi,

cant help you in terms of where to get sheet done up but yes, pure cotton is the best and do make up at least 4 sets, sometimes in one bad night you can go through 2 sets!

Hello,

What is the size of the matress that you have ordered?
123cm x 69cm's.

I thought there'd be loads of suggestions! Come on ladies- help a poor fella out who's under instructions to get sheets sorted before the good lady gets out of hospital!

Hi,

Take a look at Mothercare to see if they have the size that can fit your mattress. Since yours is tailor-made it might be hard to find exact size, unless you tailor-make it.

100% cotton is the best for new-borns, and please get 1-2 extras just in case.

Good luck!

Try going to clothes' alteration shops round your neighbourhood. I am sure they will be able to sew you some. If you don't know where these shops are, ask your dry cleaner. They will definately know which one is the closest one for ya. Else, Worldwide House in Central got tonnes of alteration shops.

Next, you will need materials, you can buy the normal sheets (non-fitted ones) from any baby shops like Mothercare, or even department stores' baby section like Jusco, Wing On etc, or beddings shops like Aussino.

If all fails, try buying non-fitted sheets fasteners (kind of like a white rubber band with some sort of pastic hook) to pull the sheets securely under the mattress. I remember seeing them in Eugene Baby Shop in Windsor House, but have not tried them, so I have no idea how safe or useful these are. Best advise I can give is to get your fitted sheets made by clothes' alteration shop (if you are positive that ready made ones can not fit) and only get those hooks thing if you are desperate.

You can always buy fitted sheets and have them altered. Might be less troublesome than getting them made from scratch.

Fitted sheets are the one that has sewn and rubber banded corners I assume? so buying non-fitted ones are more practical and economical for tailoring/altering purposes.

i have a mattress of a similar size and spent ages trying to find fitted sheets to match. in the end i gave up and just bought the nearest size i could find and lo and behold when i tried it on the mattress they fitted perfectly. the elastic is quite forgiving. i bought my sheets at bumps to babes. they have more sizes than mothercare.

There is a shop on the junction of Johnston Road (with trams running along it) & Wanchai Road (in Wanchai !!!) directly opposite McDonalds. I had my mattress cut there for my cot. I'm sure he does sheets as well. Sorry, don't know the shop name, but if you walk along, you'll see that he's got all sorts of materials and bolsters etc hanging outside his shop.
