Hi everyone! I would be grateful for some advice please. I am originally from Hong Kong but have been living in England for decade! I am now 5 weeks pregnant. I will be moving to hong Kong for a couple of months for family reason. So I will have my first ultrasound scan in hong Kong. I have no idea if I can book a scan at public hospital (but I am not going to have the baby in hong Kong) or I have to go private. Does anyone know what's he best way to do this and what's the waiting time for a scan appointment? How much is the scan if done privately? And how soon did you have Ur first scan? Thanks!

Actually I did call Dr. Belinda Leung at Tsim sha tsui yesterday they said that for consultation fee is HK$ 500 and HK$ 400 for the ultrasound, I'm not sure about just going public for ultrasound without giving birth over there but you definitely can go private ( OB/GYN) for that one, and I'm 7 week pregnant and going to register at public tomorrow since I don't have insurance but going to supplement with private OB/ Anneerly for ultrasounds.

Thanks AnnieMac. Do you think I can have the scan only or do I have to pay for consultation too? Do you have to wait long for an appointment?

I think you gonna need to pay for consultation too as you know anytime you spend time/ ask any question with the doctor they would counting it as consultation even though just few minutes! But you can try to give a call to the receptionist see what they have to say, I didn't go there yet as I feel really sick ( nausea) so I went to GP to get referral letter for Prince of Wales hospital, and if you go to private doctor usually you gonna spend less time to wait compare to public hospital especially if your appointment just after lunch time, but there some other option I think Annerley clinic in central do ultrasound and consultation for HK$ 550 for 30 minute, you can try give a call to them & also they have antenatal courses, here their number 29831558 & you can check their website as well, just search for Annerley clinic ( midwives), hope this help.

Update: I just called Annerley clinic turn out they didn't do normal ultrasound they only do 4D ultrasound so if you want to do ultrasound then you should go to OB/GYN doctor for that.

Have you sorted this out? I would go public to get registered, get the free scan, and then do whatever you plan to do. They won't hold it against you. But I wouldn't tell them you're leaving.

Hi everyone, need help. I am currently 7 weeks pregnant, wend to have an ultrasound when i was 6 weeks and 3 days, the doctor only saw a baby sac. I am originally not from Hong Kong and have moved here for a while, as my husband works here. The doctor told me to come back in two weeks , i am not sure whether to be worried or to try another doctor? Please advice.

I don't think anyone will be able to stop your worry. You could go to another doctor but don't you think they'll just say the same thing? You're at a very early stage and a foetus often can't be seen so early by a scan. You could ask for an internal scan or just wait a while to give the little bean some time to grow.

I had my first scan at 9 weeks and the baby was teeny-tiny!
