Hi I'm new to this!
I'm 7 Wks pregnant and have been reading about how to register at a hospital. I was just wondering if you can phone up or have to actually visit the hospital to get a place book? I've had my first doctors visit who confirmed I was indeed pregnant but she didn't give me a letter confirming it, which I'm now understanding I will need for the hospital. I'm seeing a doctor on Saturday for the first check ups- will he give me the letter or will I have to go in tomorrow to get one. Any advice would be great thank you

If you are seeing a doctor on Saturday for your first appointment just ask him/her to write you a letter confirming pregnancy, they will do it for you.
I have no experience with private hospitals, but if you are registering at a public hospital then you have to go in person. You need to bring your HKID, proof of address and a letter confirming pregnancy.

Thank you AmyH
I did want to go public, so you do have to go in person - I'm worrying now that I've left it too late and it will all be booked up. Thank you for your help x

Public hospitals can't turn anyone away so don't worry about them being booked up. They're busy, but they'll squash you in somewhere!

I didn't register with public hospital until after 28 weeks so don't worry about being too late! I was seeing a private OB for my checkups so just did 2 appointments at the public and then went there for delivery.
