First day of K1

My son will be starting K1 at an international kindergarten this year. I just realised that this school expects parents to drop off the kids and leave right from day 1. I know there are schools where parents can spend some time with the child in the classroom at least on the first day and that for the first week they have just an hour of school.

What's the usual practice?

When we joined K1 we were asked to wait outside. As far as I remember it was a full 3 hour session.
The teacher came out after 15-30 mins and suggested we leave as the kids were fine. My guy was excited to see all the toys and didn't look back. Hope your transition is easy too.

My LO started at Golden Gate last week. They had a 1 hour, 2 hour then 3 hour days. Parents were allowed in PN and K1 to stay for the first 5 days. Then they went in on their own. It really helped the separation anxiety and I got to meet the teachers and know their routine so we were ok for the first days alone.
