First birthday party

Starting to plan a first birthday party. I have quite a number of adults, and very little babies, maybe around 5 of them, all around 1 year old. so most of them can't do much.

any ideas on what i can do with the 1 year olds? i'll probably do it at a function room or something, but probably would need a play area for the little babies? or activities or people i can hire to help with entertainment? how were your birthday parties?
 
for my son's first bday we went to the park in Discovery Bay just down from our flat...

there were about 40 adults and 7 or 8 children ranging in age from 9 months up to 9 years.

i ordered food from Pepperoni's pizza and made the cake myself.

i got little goodies for the kids to take home in a bag and funky kids sunglasses and hats for all the adults

we had a pinata for the older kids

i think that is was great because the playground was right beside us so the kids could come and go as they pleased with their parents....
