First appointment at the Tsan Yuk / Queen Mary

Have my first appointment on Saturday 14th Feb.

Any idea from experience how long the whole process will take? I am due to go there at 11.

We have visitors from London that weekend, so if it is going to take all day I need to make plan for them :-)

If you have an appointment at 11am, it is wise to go there at 10:30am. You should be over by 12:30- 1pm for sure. Maybe slighlty early of you are lucky :)

when we registered, we just showed up. No appointment at all (i tried to make an appointment but they just told me to show up whenever i want). pretty fast to register. it is waiting for the first checkup that can take time. i think we were in and out in 1/ 1 and half hours. But it wasn't busy that day. Just make sre you have all your documents and money prepared.
 
I've not heard of going along without an appointment before. As geomum mentioned, I also always went half an hour earlier than my appointment time. Your appointment time is given to a group of Mums (not sure how many but too many for one time, right)? so you need to be in the first few to show up because you get given a number and that's the order you'll be seen. I always managed to get in the first 5 and was always done within an hour and a half - take a book! Oh, and don't forget your pee sample.
 
for regular checkups, yes, of course i had an appointment. But for the first checkup/registration, they just told me to show up anytime i wanted.

If you have a HK ID card, then it will cost you less than $1000 at QM if you choose to stay in the general ward, with 5 other women. You can also be a private patient at QM, and have yr own room, and it cost you approx $40K
