Filtered / Distilled or Mineral

Hi Ladies,

What type of water do you use to make your formula? Filtered tap water, distilled or mineral and why? I'm at a cross road and would love to see what other mommies are doing! Thanks!

I mainly breastfeed my baby, but when I had to top him up, I used to used boiled filtered tap water. It is what we drink at home, and it is cheap and convenient.

I also boiled distilled water, until my boy was 1. Then regular distilled. Now after 18 months he gets filtered, boiled tap water.

I never gave formula but when I gave regular water at 6 months, I gave filtered boiled tap water - the same as what we all drink...

When I made formula, we used bottled water only as that is what my NYC pediatrician in the US said to use and the pipes in our blding in HK were quite old. None of us drank tap water from them. It's also great when we traveled as we could just buy a big bottle of water and use it throughout our flight.

Thanks Guys - I'm using filtered boiled tap water but had my doubts...I'll stick with that since my baby's pu is looking good and it's not such an odd thing like my mom thinks...

Forgot to also mentioned that we used Baby Alp Water (sold at Taster, 360 etc..) which has flouride in it too. It was great b/c when we brought it on long flights no one questioned us as the label said "baby."
