Fibroid removal by Gyno Dr. Pang Man Wah Selina

Hi everyone,

I am new to HK and have seen a couple of gynos but am a little nervous about the removal of my fibroid.

I have been advised "to take it out or not take it out" as I am 45 and have a miscarried. I have only suffered pain and heavy bleeding only in the last 2 years due to the fibroid which I only discovered the fibroid after I completed my IVF treatments 3 years ago, it was never there when I started IVF. I was told that it may have been the cause of my miscarried 3 years ago, however, pregnancy has never come easy for me.

There is an option to remove the fibroid by 'key hole" surgery.

I have seen these two doctors:
1. Dr. Pang Man Wah Selina in Princess Building Central
2. Dr. Lau Yee Lam Eileen in Princess Building Central

Has anyone had any experience with these doctors, if so, please share your experience.

I would love to hear from you if you have had fibroids removed from these doctors or any other doctors in HK and your experiences.

Thank you and have a great day.

I just gave birth to my first baby girl on January 22 and Dr. Selina Pang did my C-section. She's very good, I think--her staff is friendly and helpful, and Selina herself's always available to answer any questions or address concerns by phone or email. The surgery went very well and recovery's going great.

I haven't had fibroid removal experience, but had chocolate cysts removed last year in HK. The surgery was done by Dr. Eric Lee in the Quality Healthcare Medical Center in Prince Building, and he was very good--excellent bedside manners and very experienced in doing key hole type microsurgery, and I recovered in less than a week after surgery. I think he may be on extended leave right now, but you can try him out if you're looking for a second/third/fourth opinion. I think Dr. Lee and Dr. Selina Pang cover each other's patients when they go on vacation.

There are tons of great doctors in the Central area... good luck!

Hi Veil337,

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy and thank you very much for taken the time to respond considering now you have your hands full!

I have now booked to see Dr Eric Lee to get his thoughts too. I was advised they are both good and Dr Pang is a Professor herself.

Cheers and all the best with your new beautiful baby girl x :)

Dear CourtHK,

Thank you for your posting your story about fibroid removal. I think you are helping many concerned mothers with similar problems. I have that problem myself and also 4 months pregnant.
CourtHK, I feel sympathy for you and I can only imagine how hard it is to have a miscarriage. I am sure you are doing better now and that after your removal of this fibroid things should only get better. I hope it does and all is well.................................................................

I have been to St. Theresa's hospital and saw a Gyno doctor by the name of Dr. Kwok Sui Yee, Karen. She was unable to help much but detect that I have fibroids. Seems she is not a specialist in this area so I will take her advice as it is what it is and I will look it up myself. In fact, it came as a big shock that I have fibroids now that I am pregnant for the first at 35 time so I have to do what I have to do to fix it. I just wish she would give us more advice as we waited 3 hours to see her and she was too rush to get to her next patient. Very disappointed after they charged us $670HK for not very helpful advice.

Anyway, I think I will be going to HK Baptist hospital for a first opinion (considering Dr. KWOK never gave us much of an opinion) as they have a departments in everything and they say they don't charge too much. I got a quote for $310.00Hk for a consultation fee. But, do they specialize in Fibroid removal for women who are currently pregnant with this problem?

Also, Adventist hospital in Central claims that they used to have a FIBROID clinic, But, now they do not. I think they still have those doctors who specialize in fibroids but they charge $1000-$1500 per session or initial consultation.

Now, I don't want to go to a gyno for general advice or go to a professional who one may not need for an initial consultation as money is always a factor. But, I do have a better idea where to look for the future for specialist in this area thanks to you ;)

Just wondering if anyone else can share the experiences in this on-going problematic issue.

Anyone?

THANK YOU ALL :)
