Hi, I live in Guangzhou and I have just miscarried 3 weeks ago at 10.5 weeks. I was in the states then. I need to find a doctor here in Hong Kong who can assist me in our next steps. I also had surgery and lost one tube in April so I am a little bit tired and want to see where I should be going from here. I will turn 38 in 3 weeks so time is not necessarily in my favor. Does anyone have any ideas of where I should go and a good doctor? Thanks, Kerri

You will find information on quite a few from this website, including (no particular order) Dr. Christine Choy, Dr Derek Lo, Dr. Phillip Ho, Dr. Alex Doo, Dr Milton Leung etc.

Ok I will check those out. Any personal reccomendations that anyone might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the information. Kerri

Hi Kerri Lynn

I had a wonderful personal experience with Dr. Philip Ho (2899 2293). He has his own clinic in Central HK, and he is an notable expert in fertility issues - of all kinds. My personal problem was just the ovulation part and he helped us to get preggers on our first cycle with him. I know of others who've had more complicated fertility issues whom he has successfully helped. He's not "Mr. Smiley-And-Chatty" but I don't think that is important. What's important is that he is thoroughly, capable, highly knowledgeable, careful, gentle, patient and happy to sit with you for as long as you need to answer your questions. His English is perfect (he studied in Australia) which is a big plus, for expats.

His assistant Kelly is also wonderful. She IS full of smiles and lighthearted and also quite knowledgeable.

He's not cheap - HKD900 per session + another 900 for an ultrasound. Plus meds of course. But really worth it in my opinion.

Hope this helps and best of luck to you.

I can also recommend Dr. Phillip Ho. I am 38 and had been TTC for 3 years prior to coming to HK. Our infertility was unexplained as our doctors in the US could never find any problem. Anyway, I was pregnant after two IUI cycles with Dr. Ho. The first cycle was with Clomid, which I did not respond well to. The 2nd cycle was with Gonal F. That did the trick!
I felt I received the best of care during the process.
I previously had two miscarriages, and my doctor in the States recommended taking one baby aspirin daily which I continued through the 4th month of pregnancy.

leslievigil,
i live in guangzhou too and am currently seeing dr derek lo for my pcos. have been prescribed with metformin. IUI was also presented to us as an option. however, i doubt if we can successfuly do IUI since we live in gz. do we have to be in HK all the time for the process/cycle?

I have PCOS and didn't need IUI since hubby had no problem. I had metformin and Gonal F injections and everything else we did naturally and still got pregnant twice (one miscarriage).

IUI was recommended to us because in addition to me having PCOS, hubby has low sperm motility. We have been trying to conceive naturally for 3 months now and nothing has happened to really considering IUI. But not sure if it is at all possible with us in GZ and the doctor in HK

I wouldn't have thought you need to be down here all the time but you will need monitoring every few days and then hubby need only be around when necessary to provide the sperm at the appropriate time. I think usually they give you an injection to release the egg so they can predict when things will happen which is better for planning. If unsure ask your DR.

I'm 38 too and had 4 miscarriages before to arrive to HK. I've seen Dr Choy when I discovered I was pregnant again, and she treated me very seriously. I had a lot of appointments and a medical treatment to give me the maximum chances... it was 8.5 months ago and I will deliver very soon ! Her office is in Central, in New World Tower. Wish you to find someone you can trust as much as I trust her.

Hi Kerri Lynn

I've made a booking with Dr. Clement Ho on Nov 22. He's actually one of the more famous fertility specialist in HK (clinic in Central). I made the booking 8 months ago but during these 8 mths' waiting I've got pregnant without medication. If you want I can check if I can transfer my booking to you. Feel free to PM me. :)
