Hi everyone. I am 32 and my husband is 47. We have been trying for a baby for 6 months already. Taking into considerations that I am in my 30's and my husband in his 40's, we decided not to wait for long because seeking treatment. Just want to find out does anyone know how much fertility tests and treatment costs in Hong Kong? Or i am happy to hear from anyone who can give me advice on what to do because i am feeling so depressed that i am still not pregnant yet.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure about the costs. But I would recommend you make an appt with Dr Derek Lo, he specialises in Fertility Treatment and perhaps you can do a few scans with him to determine your cycle etc. His consultations are reasonable - think he may have a package too.

One of my friends tried it out earlier.
Private doctor costs them $9000 per try, not 100%
Your doctor could possibly refer you to gov't hospital. However, not everyone would be accepted for such treatment. Will try out 3 times only. if still failed, you have to go for private then.
not sure exact cost, definitely far more cheaper than private dr.

Am I pregnant?

Thanks salami! and RAni! I really appreciate it. I will give it another try till 9 months, after that, maybe i will need to see a doctor about it. By the way, could i ask for your advice? my period is one day overdue, my breasts are sore ( the kind of soreness you get prior to menstrution). I did a pregnancy test and it was negative after 10 mins. After an hour or so, i went back to see it and saw a very faint red line. Does that mean i am pregnant, or not? is reading after 1 hour still count? What do you think?

Shalom,

I know my Gyno is one of the best fertility docs in HKG! His name is Dr Milton Leung. Not sure of his charges but I hv met quite a few ppl that have used him with v high success rates!! U can find his details under the 'womens clinic' or if u need me to gv it to u let me know. its just that i dont hv my fone book on hand right now.

All the Best

thanks Karishma. i would love to have his contact, or at least at which hospital he is working. thanks again for the recommendation.

no, i did not test it again because i thought it will turned out the same again. i wanted to be sure before i test it again. do you think a faint red line after an hour means positive? do you think i should test again? oh god, i pray that i am pregnant. i am almost afraid to hope because of many disappointments. will keep you inform, rani and Karish. your info and supports really mean the world to me. these are the kind of things only women can understand, my husband can never understand my obsession with this.

sounds good

after a couple of years hanging around "trying to conceive" bulletin boards, I can tell you that there's no such thing as a false positive. there is such a thing as a low reading, though; go see a doctor and get your good news!

hey guys, i think another pregnancy test today using clear blue ( see how obsessive i am??) and it is positive, couldn't be anymore positive!!!!!!! thanks again for all your support. by the way, i live in happy valley, the nearest hospital is the sanotorium. do you know of any good obstetrician in the sanotorium??? thanks again. yipee!!!!!!!!!!:flower:

congratulations! I don't know the Hong Kong drs yet - am moving over there in 3 weeks - but in Australia the only good advice is book in FAST! even if you make appointments with a couple then decide which one to go with. but that might just be here because of recent increases in the number of women with private insurance.

anyway, you have so much to look forward to now. take care of yourself - you'll be feeling pregnant soon!

thanks j_s, this is my first time. i am so excited. thanks again for all the encouragement. i believe i shall enjoy my pregnancy because i wanted so much to be pregnant!!!!!!!!! when are you coming to hk?

Shalom,

:congrats:

If you're not already on folic acid - get to a pharamacy ASAP and get some. The pharamcist will advise you which one to buy.

Recommend you wait till you're about 7- weeks before visiting the Dr. Not much they can do before then. As the home pregnancy tests are 99 % accurate the Drs don't tend to re-test.

The HK Santitorium is a great hospital. I don't think the Expat Drs deliver there, but most of the Chinese Drs do. Have a browse through our Resoure Directory for a list of Drs with reviews.

Congratulations again!

better late than never!!

guys, long time no write!!! i was pregnant and i am now a mother of a 3 month old. sorry for the delay and thanks for the supports.
