Hi Loveisgood. I have used Dr Doo (The Women's Clinic) as well as Dr Lo (Prolivfic).
With Dr Lo I went through all of the exploratory infertility consultation (tests etc.), monitored cycles with clomid, a couple of IUIs and then on to IVF. Of the first IVF cycle the fresh transfer failed, but the first frozen transfer resulted in my little boy, then attempts to use the rest of the frozen embryos failed. We then did another full cycle of IVF (with about 7 embryos) but none of the transfers (fresh nor frozen) were successful.
We then decided to try another doctor so went to see Dr Doo. I got pregnant on the first IVF cycle we tried with him, fresh transfer.
Comparing the doctors, I found Dr Doo's IVF clinic at the Sanitorium to be much more professional than Dr Lo's somehow, but that could just be because Dr Lo's clinic never really had much interaction directly with me as the patient. I learned more just talking to the nurse at the Sanitorium for 45 minutes than I learned in 2 cycles with Dr Lo. Also, Dr Lo typically does 3 day transfers (always refused to attempt 5 day with me), but Dr Doo does 5 day transfers. Apparently Dr Doo's clinic has a lot of experience and a very high success rate in bringing embryos to blastocyst. With Dr Lo, across both cycles, I had the same amount of eggs retrieved (10) and around the same fertilized (7). Whereas with Dr Doo I had 15 retrieved and 12 fertilised (and 7 brought to blastocyst). This is only across 3 cycles so could just be chance, but I feel it could also be down to the skill of the doctor and embryologists.
The only thing about Dr Doo, though, is that his consultation fees were much higher than Dr Lo's. Each consultation is around $2k (consultation + ultrasound), whereas Dr Lo would charge much less than this ($600 or so as I recall, whether with ultrasound or not).
This matters less if you are doing IVF as Dr Doo doesn't charge full consultation for all visits so it worked out to approximately the same for us (give or take $10-15k), but if you are doing anything less than IVF Dr Doo is expensive in my opinion. Before we did the IVF cycle with Dr Doo I had just a monitored cycle with some low level stimulation with him. It cost me around $20k. I could have had a full IUI with Dr Lo for that price.
Anyway, depends on your budget / stage in the fertility "journey". If you know you want to go straight for IVF I'd recommend Dr Doo. But if you want to do more exploratory things (clomid, monitored cycles, fertility testing, IUI) and money is an issue then perhaps go with another doctor.
I don't want to be down on Dr Lo, as he is very nice and competent and he did help me get my first little boy so he certainly does have success. Just that in my case a 5 day transfer turned out to be the quickest and most cost effective way for me than plodding on with 3 day transfers that didn't work (of 14 3-day embryos only 1 was successful).
