Fenugreek --where can I get?

Hi,

My supply of breastmilk in the fridge is depleted and I want to build up a supply again for when I'm out of the house (10-month old baby won't take formula!).

A friend suggested fenugreek. I've checked out GNC, Manning's, and one health shop along Lyndhurst Terrace and none of them carries fenugreek.

Can anybody tell me where I can get fenugreek capsules or tablets? Thanks for your help.

Not sure where you can buy fenugreek capsules or tablets.

You can buy dry fenugreek seeds from indian shops or most supermarket chains such as park n shop, wellcome, great and city super. Look in the spices section.

To make fenugreek tea, boil a teaspoon of seeds in water and strain into a cup. It said to boost milk supply.

instead of fenugreek, you can try Mother's Milk Tea. An organic tea bags to boost milk supply. it takes 2 days of drinking for you to feel the increase. continue to drink until you feel your supply is enough.

available in citysuper, mothercare, bumps to babes.

good luck.

Drinking fenugreek tea may not give you a big enough dose to increase your supply. Dosages of less than six capsules per day often produce no effect. One way to determine if you're taking the correct dosage is to slowly increase the amount of fenugreek until your sweat and urine begin to smell like maple syrup. The maple syrup smell tells you that you are at the right dosage.

If you notice any side effects (loose stools and nausea are the commonest but also skin reactions) discontinue use and consider an alternative method of increasing milk supply.

Avoid if you have a history of:
  • Peanut or chickpea allergy
  • Diabetes or hypoglycaemia
  • Asthma
  • Abnormal menstrual cycles
  • Migraines
  • Blood pressure problems or heart disease
Best wishes,
SARAH

Also you can get it at "nu health and beauty" shop. It's in the admiralty centre on the 1st floor just near watsons.
